Tiller handle - International request
Your new tiller handle - hand made in Germany
I will make your new laminated tiller handle to measure according to your wishes using high-quality craftsmanship and knot-free mahogany and ash wood veneers. The tiller is glued exclusively with high-quality epoxy resin. This very elaborate manufacturing process is considerably more expensive than simple gluing with wood glue, but offers high strength.

What does a tiller handle cost?
1. General price
The price depends on the length of the wood veneers used.
– up to 90 cm € 215.- always unpainted!
– up to 120 cm € 230.- always unpainted!
– up to 150 cm € 260.- always unpainted!
– up to 180 cm € 320.- always unpainted!
If your tiller handle is particularly thick, I will charge a small individual surcharge for the additional material.
More detailed information is available in German under the menu item Prices – enquire and you will receive a customised offer.
2. Negative mould
A large number of different negative moulds are available in my workplace. Choose a model from my homepage and I will build this tiller handle for you. If you cannot find a suitable mould, I will build your tiller mould according to a template, for which I charge an additional € 50.
3. Tiller boom
On request, I also manufacture tiller booms to match the tiller handle with the same contours as the tiller itself. Such a tiller boom costs € 175 including the matching joint fitting from Holt Allen, no. 4098.
4. Shaft reinforcement with an aluminium square tube
On some tiller handle models, I can reinforce the shaft with a square tube on request. In this case, I slim the shaft of the tiller by the thickness of the tube, slide the aluminium tube over the shaft and fill everything with epoxy resin. I always charge an additional € 45 for this refurbishment of the tube.
5. Shipping
I ship EU-wide with DHL or DPD. EU shipping usually costs € 18.-, England and Switzerland € 35.- For particularly long or particularly heavy tiller handles I will inform you of the shipping costs before the purchase.
6. Payment
As soon as your tiller is finished, I will take photos of your tiller with the SLR camera as proof that I have really built your tiller handle. I will email you these photos together with the DHL/DPD despatch note, my painting instructions and invoice. Payment will be made by bank transfer when the tiller is dispatched. I think this is as fair as possible for both sides. You can also choose to pay cash on collection. I run the tiller construction as a small business and am therefore exempt from VAT.
FAQ
How does the ordering process work?
Write to me using the contact form and let me know which type of boat you would like a tiller handle for. I need the following details:
– the desired total length measured horizontally (not the length following an S-shape)
– very important: the shaft dimensions, shaft width, shaft height, shaft length inside the fitting
– the desired shape: straight, curved, s-shaped, choose the shape that suits your boat from the wide range of tiller handle shapes I offer.
– For s-shaped tiller handles, it is helpful to specify the approximate desired pitch
I will contact you at short notice by e-mail or telephone and together we will clarify all the details of your tiller handle. It is always helpful to send me photos of the entire cockpit area and the rudder head / rudder shaft end. In this way, I can usually make suggestions for the right geometry of your new tiller. Alternatively, you can also send me templates, which I can then use to produce the exact tiller handle contour you require.
How long do you have to wait for your tiller after ordering?
After clarifying all the details, I usually build the tiller for you within a week to 10 days. I will always let you know the exact production time.
You are welcome to send me your rudder head or, even better, the old tiller.
You will always receive very detailed painting instructions from me!
